Howardstore had the best deals on popular brands of TV’s in all screen sizes and we understand that deciding on a television for your home can be stressful. There are quite a few types of televisions currently on the market, and they come in a plethora of shapes, sizes, settings and displays. When choosing a television, don’t let it overwhelm you. Some of the more popular types of televisions are summarized below.
LED (Light-Emitting Diode) LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) televisions are the most common televisions on the market today. LED TVs consume less energy than their older basic LCD counterparts because they use LED lights instead of fluorescent lights. LED and LCD TVs project light onto the LCD panel which forms the images by giving them shape and color. LED televisions commonly have a feature called active dimming that will adjust the brightness of light on different areas of the television screen to give the viewer a better view of light areas and dark areas in movies and TV shows. This gives them the ability to produce a much blacker image than standard LCD TVs. LED LCD television units have been constantly improving their image and are slowly closing the gap that Plasma TV users have enjoyed in terms of picture quality.
A plasma TV is built around a plasma display that, unlike LED LCD, projects its own light through a glass screen. The light created in a plasma TV comes from gas cells that illuminate the pixels on the television screen to produce an image. It thrives in rooms with less sunlight due to the glass screen, which can produce glare. In dark settings, they produce some of the best images available in any TV today. They also excel at producing rapid motion images, something that LED LCD TVs have struggled with for some time.
Ultra HD and 4K TVs are newer versions of LED LCD technology. They are structurally the same; however, Ultra HD and 4K TVs have more pixels on their screen. This increase in pixels results in an image that is sharper, more detailed and has up to 4X the resolution of older HDTVs. This type of television is more expensive that traditional LED LCD television units; however, they do offer a superior television experience.
